A simple trick for extra soft towels used by hotels around the world

Every one of us longs for beautifully soft towels that we can wrap our whole face in without any problems. However, this is not always the case. After washing, towels can be unpleasantly rough and hard. Fortunately, there is a relatively simple solution to making towels soft. You don’t need any chemicals to do this. Commonly available ingredients will suffice.

What should we prepare?

To get beautifully soft towels, we will need the following ingredients:

  • Baking soda
  • vinegar

If you think that the avivage will make your towels fresh and fluffy, you’re wrong. Avivage is only suitable for use on towels occasionally. This is because the softener contained in it can form a layer that prevents water absorption. This means that the towel will not be able to soak up the water, plus it hardens over time. To remove this layer (and also to get rid of stains, dirt and bacteria), soak your towels in hot water with a little baking soda. After one hour, proceed to the next step.

How to dry towels

Towel drying is important to achieve softness. Do not dry towels in direct sunlight as this makes them harden again. It is best to dry them in the shade or at sunset. However, if you have a tumble dryer, this is absolutely the best solution.

Wash new towels too

Most of us have the habit of washing new clothes as well as towels before the first use. Yes, this is a really good solution, especially when it comes to towels. Towels that have left the factory are coated with wax that could cause them to harden. That’s why it’s a good idea to wash them. Not only will you get rid of the unwanted wax layer, but it’s also hygienic. You never know what happened to the towel before it got to your bathroom.
