There’s nothing easier than getting inspired by our tips for making homemade fabric softener without chemicals, but with the scent of your preference. How to do it?
1. Avivage from conditioner
One of the options is to make homemade avivage using hair conditioner. To make it you will need:
- 400 ml of hair conditioner;
- 1 l of white apple cider vinegar.
Pour conditioner into a large bowl and add apple cider vinegar, stir. Pour the resulting mixture into a resealable container, you can use an empty plastic bottle from a store-bought fabric softener or cleaner. When washing, use a standard measuring cup as you would with store-bought fabric softener.

2. Avivage with essential oils
You can also make a fragrance using essential oils, you choose the pleasant scent you like, but orange or lemon based essential oils are very suitable. Lemon also has a disinfectant effect and has a long-lasting freshness. In addition to citrus scents, you can also use rose or peppermint oils. For this fabric softener you will need:
- 6 cups of white vinegar;
- 1 cup of baking soda;
- 30 drops of essential oil of your choice.
Mix the vinegar with the essential oil in an empty bottle and add the baking soda. The mixture will begin to bubble, but wait until a uniform mixture is formed. Pour the created fabric softener into the bottle as in the previous case.
3. Avivage with lavender oil
Want to enjoy a night like a holiday in Provence? Definitely make a lavender scented fabric softener. Lavender essential oil smells pleasant, it also works to relax and treat headaches. To make this fabric softener you will need:
- ½ kg of coarse salt;
- 150 g of baking soda;
- 30 drops of lavender essential oil.
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly, they must be perfectly blended. Store in a resealable bottle. When rinsing, place two tablespoons in the washing machine tray.
