Especially after winter, we are eager to get our garden and patio ready for the spring and summer seasons when we spend more time outside. We would also like to achieve clean paving, giving it enough beauty and shine to look like new again. Unfortunately, after the winter, especially in shady areas, unsightly green moss and algae appear and detract from the overall appearance of patios and walkways. We are trying to postpone this work because it is a bit like fighting windmills.

But you don’t have to procrastinate and put off work on your paving. Everything will be so easy and fast that you’ll even enjoy the work.

Before you get down to the actual cleaning

Before you start applying any cleaner to your tiles, you should rid them of loose dirt. Do not use tools that could damage your tiles. There is a particular risk of scratching. For this reason, use brooms with soft bristles.

Removing green stains from patio tiles? With this trick, it’s very easy! You really must try it!

What are the advantages of this cleaning?

  • 100% natural
  • Low purchase price
  • Easily available

Salty Potato Water

The first method you can try is hot potato water. The charm of this simple trick is that after cooking the potatoes, you are left with hot salty potato water that you would normally pour down the sink. Just pour this hot salt water over the tiles whenever you boil potatoes and the green algae won’t stand a chance.

If you already have pavement covered in green algae, the plants will slowly die after application. On clean pavement, this water has a preventive effect.

Hot Soapy Water

What you will need:

  • Baking soda – 100g
  • Soft grated soap – 100 g
  • Hot water – 10 l

Pour the hot water into a suitable bucket and stir in the baking soda and grated soap. Stir the mixture until it is completely dissolved.

Pour the hot mixture onto your patio and use a stiff broom to spread evenly over the tiles and into the joints. Leave for at least ½ hour. Then rinse the tiles thoroughly with clean lukewarm water.

Green stains are gone and you can enjoy the sight of your spotlessly clean tiles.
