Washing machines can be found in almost every home. This household appliance saves a lot of work and time for every woman. Just fill it with clothes, set the programme and switch it on. In a few tens of minutes to hours, your laundry is clean, fragrant and wrung out. How long we can use the washing machine, however, is often up to us. Both by looking after it and by putting it in the right place. Many people choose the same thing over and over again, which is not always a happy choice. What to look for when placing a washing machine and what is not good for it?
Where to place the washing machine?
In the Czech Republic, it is customary to have a washing machine in the bathroom, but abroad it is often also in the kitchen, usually hidden in the kitchen counter next to the dishwasher. This option is great if your kitchen is designed to accommodate a washing machine, and the material and construction are prepared for the washing machine to vibrate and shake when washing. When installed appropriately, this makes the kitchen an ideal place for the washing machine.
But if you’re like most people, your washing machine should have a few inches of clearance around it in the bathroom so that it can’t hit the walls or even the bathtub while bouncing around. It’s also a good idea to put the washing machine on a suitable mat, as nowadays you can buy mats designed specifically for this purpose. Such a pad will ensure that the washing machine stands upright. In addition, it minimizes its shaking.
Clean the filter and the rest
But mechanical damage to the washing machine from walls and other objects isn’t the only thing it’s at risk of. You should also clean your washing machine regularly, both the drum itself and the filter found near the water drain hose. A clogged filter is one of the most common causes of washing machine problems. To make sure your washing machine lasts for many years, you should also follow these proven tips:
- Don’t overfill your washing machine, it’s better to wash it twice
- Regularly remove limescale that builds up in the washing machine
- It’s a good idea to give the inside of your washing machine a good cleaning every once in a while
