Do you suffer from a strong smell from your shoes, socks or feet? S This is a problem many people face especially in the summer when their feet sweat more often. Hot weather and high temperatures play a part, but often poorly chosen footwear or health problems also play a part.
First Aid
First, make sure you are not wearing leaky socks made of spandex or leaky shoes. Cotton or, better yet, bamboo socks that are breathable, soft and durable are ideal. Compared to cotton, they are up to 50% more absorbent and thanks to their thermoregulatory properties, they are pleasantly cool in warm weather and warm in cold weather. Their choice is therefore more than right if you are bothered by foot odour.

Regular hygiene
It will also help if you wash your feet regularly with warm water and soap. Also remember to change your socks frequently, even several times a day, especially if you have physical stress or play sports. If you wear socks that are too thick and shoes that are not breathable, the sweat will have nowhere to go and bacteria will form on your feet. These cause unwanted gases that smell like ripened cheese. To avoid this, let your feet breathe as much as possible. In summer, wear the following types of shoes in particular:
- Lightweight canvas sneakers
- Leather sandals
- Flip-flops
Lifestyle and stress
It’s a good idea to focus on your day as well and get rid of stressful subjects if you can. This is because stress increases sweating and does not contribute to our health either. In addition, it is beneficial to limit animal foods, as too much protein can also have a big impact on unpleasant foot odour.
Body cleansing
You can also prevent sweat from your feet if you do the following wraps from time to time. Take birch buds and put fresh ones between your toes, then put on a cotton sock and stay like this for at least two hours. Another option is to sprinkle your feet with oak bark powder or boric acid, put on a sock and leave it on overnight. Then wash your feet thoroughly in the morning. However, you will only achieve lasting results if you repeat the above two treatments every night for two weeks.

Cold Water
A daily morning and evening foot bath with cold water is also very effective. Soak your lavor and put your feet in it for a few minutes. It is a good idea to repeat this course of treatment regularly for at least 90 days. It is doubly worthwhile as the method is also effective in preventing colds, as it strengthens the immune system and the body’s overall defences.
